Accessories: Phaco Hand Pieces

Problem No Phaco Power.
Solution
  1. Check to see that the hand piece is plugged into the front panel receptacle.
  2. Make sure you are in the “PHACO” mode.
  3. Check to see that the phaco tip is not loose.
  4. Check to see if the bubble suppressor is not stuck, (it should easily rotate) and see that it is not torn.
  5. Check if the foot pedal is driving machine to phaco position.
  6. Try non-linear mode.

Problem Wiggle to work.
Solution
  1. Broken power cord don’t use. Send to SDC.

Problem Heating Up.
Solution
  1. If only one hand piece is heating up, send it to SDC.

Problem Leaking at rear of hand piece.
Solution
  1. If the hand piece is a STM replace rear connector.
  2. If the hand piece is a TF check that the stack is seated completely in to the coil.
  3. Make sure that the metal shell over the cocoon is tight.
  4. Make sure that “O” rings are not damaged.

Problem Not working in linear.
Solution
  1. Check to see that the linear function light is displayed and that it adds an additional 4 cc/min upon depressing of the foot pedal.

Problem Making metallic sound.
Solution
  1. Change the O-rings, tighten the shell.

Problem louding in Anterior Chamber.
Solution
  1. Check settings, ART, occlusions.
  2. Increase flow rates

Problem Corneal burns/edema.
Solution
  1. Change the infusion sleeve.
  2. Make sure incision size is correct for Phaco Tip.
  3. Make sure that there is sufficient flow before engaging phaco.
